Please pray for me. I'm almost 49 and have had health problems for the last 6 months and am really struggling with my mortality. Over the last year I've had a friend, who was quite fit, die to a heart attack (at 51). Another almost (54). Family members finding out they have cancer or needing heart bypasses, and my wife, 46, had a mini-stroke. And now I find myself extremely fearful of death. At 17 I have believed myself to be saved, but my life sure rarely evidenced it. There were times of seemingly devotedness to God but more was not than was. However in 2020, God seemed to really grab me and something changed. For the next year I walked closely with God, but then sin started creeping back in. I often grieve my submission to that sin, but now with all this going on I am finding myself questioning the validity of my savlation and am seriously struggling with trusting God (or even truly understanding what that means). I am extremely fearful of my own death and my eternal residence. I have read Scripture over and over and I find no peace in it, just more fearfulness, and worse hopelessness. I know there is absolutely nothing I can do to win God over. Nothing I can say, no habit I can form, nothing that I can do that can assure my salvation. I have no one here I can talk to that has helped me, no friend, family or pastor. Either they don't understand, say Christian cliches (which some are true like 'trust God, He's in control', but that doesn't help when trusting God is my struggle), or I'm cynical of their advice due to their own walk and sometimes seemingly apostate beliefs. I'm in such great need of prayer and such great need for God to truly reveal Himself to me. I choose to believe He can evaporate my doubt and lack of trust, but its not happened since my health issues started 6 months ago. In fact its only gotten worse. I can not convey with words my desperation. I often come home from work and crawl into bed and just weep and beg God to help me. Please please pray for me. I'm now seeking help from you who are saved, who are brethren, who are God's children and indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and for your intercessory prayer, as I continue to pray and beg God to please overcome my doubt, lack of trust and faith, and sin. I seek Him to heal me too, but my eternal soul if my primary concern. Thank you in advance to any of you who choose to geniunely pray and intercede for me. Please add me to any and every prayer group/circle/list you know. Thank you again.

We will start to hate the sin that we loved, and we will stop thinking that doing “good” things will get us to heaven. God will give us a new heart, and we will desire to please Him.
